What is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda, Sanskrit for "The Science of Life", is the oldest healing science in the world dating back 5,000 years. It focuses on prevention of disease and cure of the individual through harnessing the energy that resides within each person.

Ayurveda is perfect for...

STRESS
ASTHMA
SKIN ISSUES
DIABETES
HIGH
CHOLESTEROL
BLOOD
PRESSURE
ARTHRITIS
GASTRIC
ISSUES

You are the world's most amazing system
Be treated like that

While Ayurveda is not a substitute for Western allopathic medicine, it is a great companion. Whilst the Western medical system looks at you as a sum of many parts and treats the symptoms, Ayurveda sees you as a whole system (of mind & matter) and treats you, the person.

How a consult works

1

Our experienced Ayurvedic practitioners will ask questions to better understand your lifestyle & complaints. After which they will be able to ascertain the imbalances in your doshas - 'Vatta' for balance and movement, 'Pitta' for digestion and metabolism & 'Kapha' for balance and body structure.

2

The Ayurvedic practitioner may suggest treatment options which include herbs & herbal formulas, changes to your diet based on the "six" tastes principle as well as "Panchakarma" a multi step detoxification process to balance your doshas. Ayurvedic practitioners may also recommend oils and herbal pastes for external application.

3

If the Ayurvedic practitioners prescribe any Ayurvedic medication or ingredients, you will have the option of having them delivered to your doorstep. The practitioner may ask you to call back for a follow up consultation 3-4 weeks later to assess your progress.

A 3000 year old Sri Lankan treasure

Now at your fingertips

Ayurveda & royalty is closely linked in Sri Lanka with its first kings also being physicians. Ayurvedic practitioners held noble positions in the social hierarchy.

Ayurveda is given equal prominence as western medicine in Sri Lanka with a special ministry dedicated to it. Practitioners need to go through a 5 year university course to commence practicing.

From the courts of the first kings of Sri Lanka, the Ayurvedic tradition has been refined and passed down through generations of practitioners.

Testimonials

"I had been suffering from knee pain for about eight months and any doctor I spoke to was suggesting surgery which I couldn’t afford. I knew I wanted to try out herbal medicine or ayurvedic treatment, but I couldn’t find any good Ayurvedic practices nearby. I came across oDoc on Google. I spoke to the ayurvedic doctor over video call about my knee pain and he taught me some specific massage techniques and exercises I could do."

Natalie Khoël, 40, Essen, Germany

"While on holiday in Sri Lanka I spoke to a doctor about my slipped disc that I hadn't fully recovered from. She gave me three different types of oil to use on my back and how exactly I should use them. I followed up with her multiple times on oDoc after I went back to London. Initially, I wasn’t sure how much she could help me over a video call , but I was taken by surprise. The advice she gave me was useful and she also suggested the herbs and oils I could buy in London to help me with my back.

Andrew Miller, 25, London UK

I enjoy speaking to Ayurvedic doctors as they go beyond the symptoms to find out more about me. The consultations are about 20 minutes long because they take the time to understand my mental and physical well being before discussing treatment. I always feel like a weight has been lifted off my chest whenever I speak to them.

Tara Kimmel, 63, New York, USA
